Timely Filing Limit

A timely filing limit is the deadline by which an insurance claim must be submitted to be considered for processing. The deadline can vary by insurer, plan, claim type, and circumstances. Missing it may lead to a denial even when the underlying service would otherwise have been eligible.

Therapists and clients should confirm the applicable deadline and submission method with the payer, keep proof of submission where possible, and monitor claims for issues that require correction or follow-up. If a claim is denied for late filing, review the denial explanation and ask the insurer whether any exception, reconsideration, or appeal process applies.
