Claim tracking is the process of monitoring an insurance claim after it has been submitted. It helps identify whether the payer has received the claim, whether it is still being processed, whether more information is needed, and whether it has been paid, adjusted, or denied.
Tracking matters because a submitted claim is not necessarily a completed claim. If a claim remains unresolved, the next step depends on its status and the payer’s instructions. Keeping submission dates, claim identifiers, EOBs, and follow-up notes together makes it easier to spot delays and respond before relevant deadlines pass.
